I make oil paintings to sate my compulsive proclivity for rebellion. It’s messy, inconvenient, expensive, often disappointing, and makes no practical sense to pursue; so naturally I must. Rebellion is a big part of my process. I find myself obscuring and abstracting elements, painting over things, and using materials without preciousness. My artistic intention is to explore a balance between rebellion and reverence with the material. Using broad strokes, exposing underpainting, gestural forms, and impasto paint application are ways I show reverence for my artistic process in my finished work. Thematically, my work is inspired by movement, dynamic energy, collective memory, subconscious vision and my environment.  In the studio currently my work delves in the extrasensory communication transmission between humans, animals, plants, and the divine.
