Every great artist began by admiring someone else’s work and copying its style. Picasso studied Velázquez, and Matisse chased Cézanne. In this four-week series, young artists are invited to do the same by studying “the greats” of art history.
In each session, participants will meet a different artist from the canon of art history, learn the techniques that made their work unmistakable, and complete guided exercises to create new artworks of their own.
At the end of the series, every student becomes an exhibiting artist. Artwork created in the workshops will be exhibited in the Riverviews Artist Collective Hallway Gallery from November 6, 2026 – January 10, 2027, in conjunction with our 18th Annual Juried Show.

Ceana Malley is a multimedia artist who specializes in painting, drawing, and illustration. She earned her BFA from Liberty University in 2026 and has been a regular volunteer at Riverviews for over two years. Her artwork is inspired by the everyday world and explores themes related to mental health, spirituality, and the journey of life.
Exhibition viewing is included with workshop registration. Your ticket purchase directly supports exhibitions and programming at Riverviews Artspace. Limited space available.
